Recent downtime

In Behind the scenes

In the past two weeks Prevue has experienced intermittent periods of service outage —€” during which the entire site becomes inaccessible from anywhere between 10sec and 5min. Though on average, this downtime affects the site for around 2 minutes per day, at random, and continues to occur.

I can confirm that these outages are unfortunately being caused by a DDoS attack — which, put simply, is where Prevue's servers are flooded with brief periods of extremely high (fake) traffic, which cause them to grind to a complete stop. It's important to note: Your images, data, and billing information is safe, secure and unaffected —€” these issues are localised to performance only.

What'€™s being done?

I know that product performance and stability is important to you and your clients, so rest assured I've been working around the clock to find a resolution. Since the attacks began, Prevue'€™s servers have been optimised and expanded to better cope with the traffic — which is having some positive effect on minimising downtime. Extra security controls and firewalls are also in place in an attempt to block unwanted traffic and further secure data, which is also helping. However, as these attacks continue for a 3rd week, more serious long-term measures are now being considered and implemented. As these are being put in place, continued outages are to be expected.

For now, new signups and yearly subscriptions have been suspended.
